Mrs. Andrew Baker died at her home 2 ½ miles northeast of Cates Friday. She was 42 years, 1 month and 12 days old. Her suffering was intense and death came as a relief. The deceased was a faithful wife and mother, and was esteemed by all who knew her. She leaves besides a husband and son, a father, three brothers and a sister and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services were conducted Sunday from the residence by Rev. J. M. McHargue after which interment was made in the Harveysburg cemetery. – S

Amanda E. Baker daughter of John W. and Sarah Lindley was born in Fountain Co. Ind., April 5, 1865, died May 17, 1907, aged 42 years, 1 month and 12 days. She was married to Andrew Baker Sept 24, 1882, and to this union were born two children one having died in infancy. She was converted and joined the United brethren Church under the pastorate of Rev. William Vale in 1881and remained a faithful Christian until her death. The Bible, the book of all books, was her constant companion having read it through twelve different times showing her love and appreciation and love for the word which was a lamp to her feet and light to her pathway. Her sickness was long and severe but she bore it with patience, not murmuring nor complaining—showing much of the spirit of the Master. The great concern of her life was to live for the happiness of others and not for self alone. She left a bright testimony behind that all was well and although “This earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved she had a building of God not made with hands but eternal and in the Heavens.” She is gone from us to live with her Savior but will continue to live in the minds and hearts of her many friends and neighbors. She is gone but not forgotten and we are comforted in the reflection that our loss is her eternal gain. The funeral services were conducted at the home of the deceased by Rev. McHargue of Kingman, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Harveysburg Cemetery. She leaves a husband, one son, a father, four sisters, three brothers and a host of friends to mourn her loss. – S
